ECONOMIC IDEAL – Islamabad, Nov 9, IRNA – Pakistan Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mohammad Faisal says Chabahar and Gwadar are sister ports and complement each other.
Faisal was replying to a question at his weekly news briefing in Islamabad.
He said Iran has reiterated its desire at the highest level to make Gwadar and Chahbahar ports as complementary or sister projects.
“We hope to further enhance cooperation with Iran in all such areas of mutual benefit and interest,” he said.
He added Iran and Pakistan, being next door neighbors, enjoy close brotherly relations, anchored in history, culture and people to people relations.
It is pertinent to mention that Chahbahar port project is exempted from the US sanctions on Iran.
Earlier, Ambassador of Iran to Pakistan Mehdi Honardoost had said that the Pakistani investors and traders should get full advantage of Chabahar free trade zone.
Chabahar port can help promote ties between Iran and Pakistan in tourism and economic sectors.
