ECONOMIC IDEAL – Hamedan, Nov 12, IRNA – The first-ever international certificate of tourism issued by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) is to be granted to Iranian Alisadr Tourism Company.
The action is taken based on the attempts on the company to develop tourism in Iran, said Secretary-General of the UNWTO Zurab Pololikashvili on Sunday.
Thanking Alisadr Company for hosting such a big event, Pololikashvili said that the aim of the conference is to share experiences and ideas.
He also suggested that Alisadr Company become a member of the newly established academy of UNTWO.
Hamid-Reza Yari, the head of Alisadr Tourism Company and a member of Board of Director at the UNWTO said in the meeting, ‘Every year, more than one million people visit Alisar cave, the biggest water cave in the world.’
Yari said, ‘German tourists have the biggest share in the large number.’
‘Despite the million visits each year, we have been able to safeguard the ecosystem of the cave.’
He also added that they can host more than 10,000 tourists a day.
Iran is hosting the 40th UNWTO conference starting today. Eighty members from 30 states are attending the three-day event that will finish on November 14.
