ECONOMIC IDEAL – Baghdad, Nov 13, IRNA – Head of the Iraqi Association of Chambers of Commerce said that despite the sanctions imposed against Iran, the two countries increased their trade exchanges in recent months.
Jafar al-Hamdani at the Pavilion of the Islamic Republic of Iran at the 45th International Commercial Exhibition in Baghdad welcomed the strong presence of Iranian companies at the exhibition, and said that the two countries have increased their trade in spite of the US unilateral sanctions against Iran.
During the first six months of this year, the volume of trade reached $6.4 billion from $4 billion in the same six months of 2017, he said.
He noted, “Also, the number of Iraqi pilgrims and tourists to Iran went up by about 17 percent during the first six months of this year”.
According to him, the volume of Iranian gas and electricity exports to Iraq has also increased by about 40 percent.
Head of the Iraqi Association of Chambers of Commerce affirmed that the figures show that despite the difficulties, the will of the two countries are based on boosting cooperation and economic relations.
