ECONOMIC IDEAL – Bushehr, Nov 14, IRNA – The First International Festival and Exhibition of Dates and Related Industries was opened in Iran’s southern city of Bushehr.
The opening ceremony was held with the attendance of the provincial and state officials on Tuesday evening.
The exhibition consists of 70 booths in an area covering 3,000 square meters, said the chairman of Bushehr chamber of commerce Khorshid Gaz-Derazi.
He added that companies from six major dates producers of the country have participated in the exhibition to display new technologies in production, packing, and processing to better introduce dates and its side industries.
Cultivating 150,000 tons of dates and exporting 20,000 of them each year has made Bushehr Iran’s major dates producer.
Head of Bushehr provincial Industry, Mine and Trade Organization Hossein Hosseini Mohammadi also said that the exhibition is to introduce Iran’s capabilities in manufacturing, processing and exporting dates.
He announced that a meeting will be held on the sidelines of the exhibition to discuss issues and bottlenecks of domestic and international dates market.
The premium dates produced in the two regions in Bushehr province Tangestan have received national registration signs and are exported with the hologram attached on them to be distinguished among the other types of dates, he stressed.
The First International Festival and Exhibition of Dates and Related Industries will wrap up on November 24.
