ECONOMIC IDEAL – Tehran, Nov 19, IRNA – A Japanese giant refiner is planning to buy Iran's oil after it managed to obtain exemption from US anti-Iran sanctions, media reported Monday.
Sources close to Fuji Oil Co told Reuters that the refiner is waiting for Japanese government to begin loading Iran's oil in January.
One source has said that the Japanese company is set to buy South Pars condensate.
Iran was sanctioned by the US after Washington withdrew from the nuclear deal and pressed its allies to stop doing business with Iran and buying its oil.
Resistance of major Iranian oil customers made the US give waivers to a number of countries, including Japan.
Japan imported 5.3 percent of its oil supply from Iran in 2017 (172,000 bpd).
