ECONOMIC IDEAL – Moscow, Nov 21, IRNA – Iran and Russia are going to trade using national currencies, which is now at about 20%, said Iran's ambassador to Russia.
‘Negotiations between the Russian and the Iranian central banks are in progress; Iran is trading with some countries, including Iraq and China, with national currencies, Mehdi Sanaee told Russia 24.
‘When the US is trying to impose its will on others using dollar, no way is left other than trading with national currencies,’ said Sanaee.
‘US exit from Iran Deal was against the international rules and order,’ said Sanaee.
Sanaee added, ‘The US has claimed that Iran will be dealing with a disaster, which is not the case now.’
‘Iran has been fighting US sanctions for 40 years; it is nothing new.’
He added that the US had sanctioned Iran even before the Islamic Revolution; they put sanctions on Prime Minister Mosaddeq's administration because he had nationalized Iranian oil.
Regarding the new sanctions, he said that the US gave exemption to eight countries to buy Iranian oil, which means that bring Iran's oil sale to zero is not plausible.
Regarding the US sanctions, he added that these sanctions are different from the ones between 2011 and 2014; these are not passed in the United Nations Security Council.
He also said that the US exit from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, better known as Iran Deal, was illegal and an overt violation of the UNSC Resolution 2231.
He went on to say that Europe is now trying to set up a new payment mechanism to have cooperation with Iran to show that they are politically independent and intend to save the JCPOA.
Quoting Iran's foreign minister and his deputy, respectively Mohammad-Javad Zarif and Abbas Araqchi, he said that Iran cannot wait for Europe for good; the situation should become clear as soon as possible.
Sanaee added that Iran will stay in the deal as long as it enjoys the benefits. The role of Russia and China is not less than Europe's.
Regarding the US foreign policies, especially in Afghanistan and Iraq, Iran's ambassador to Moscow said that when the US gets no results out of its policies, it tries to pass the buck to others.
‘The instability in the world now is the result of US' unilateralism.’
Iran and Russia's cooperation led to a relative peace and tranquility in Syria after years of war, he said.
Saying that Iranian economy was mostly (about 80%) dependent of oil dollars before, but now the amount is less than 40%, he said, ‘In general, Iran's policies has been based on cooperation with regional counties and strengthening its position in the region.’
