ECONOMIC IDEAL – Tehran, Feb 12, IRNA – The forecast for 700,000 tons of glass export by the end of this current Iranian year (starting in March 21st) is the subject of the second International Exhibition of Glass, Equipment and Machinery which began on Tuesday with the participation of 60 domestic and foreign companies at the permanent venue of Tehran International Exhibitions.
60 domestic and foreign companies from Turkey and China have exhibited their products for four days at a permanent venue for international exhibitions in Tehran.
‘The Islamic Republic of Iran is one of the leading exporters in the field, given the existence of rich silica mines, as well as the presence of innovative and creative craftsmen,’ said the director general of the International Exhibitions Company at the opening ceremony of the exhibition.
Bahman Husseinzadeh added that last year the value of all kinds of export products of the industry reached 126 million dollars, which were exported to Georgia, Turkey, Iraq, Afghanistan, India and some EU countries.
He noted that the company is going through domestic exhibitions in the framework of supporting Iranian goods and by organizing foreign exhibitions in support of export development.
According to the official, the number of exhibitors attending the exhibition is more than 16 percent higher than the previous period.
Hussein Zojaji, secretary of the Iranian Glass Industry Association, told that more than 2 million and 500,000 tons of glass are produced annually in the country, of which about one million and 600,000 tons are flat glass, 450,000 tons of bottles, and the rest crystal.
He added that this year, during the first 10 months, 670,000 tons of glass-related products were exported abroad, which is expected to reach 700,000 tons by the end of the year.
