\u00a0Speaking in the inaugural ceremony of the meeting of Energy Ministers of BRICS Member States in Moscow on the sidelines of the Russian Energy Week international forum, Iran\u2019s energy minister described the entry of Iran, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Egypt and Ethiopia into the BRICS group of emerging economies as strategically important.<\/p>\n

Considering the huge energy resources and\u00a0the significant transit role of these countries in the political geography of the world, their entry\u00a0can turn BRICS into a unique economic and political power, he emphasized.<\/p>\n

Aliabadi pointed to the unique geo-economic situation of Iran, and said that the Russian power grid can\u00a0be connected to the power grid of Arab countries through Iran, which will help to preserve the environment and increase energy security.<\/p>\n

Russia\u2019s minister of energy, who presided over the meeting, referred to\u00a0developing cooperation between the member countries in the field of energy, deepening collaborations in technology and investment, and boosting the role of BRICS in the international energy system as the three priorities of BRICS during the Russian presidency.<\/p>\n
