Tehran (ecoideal) – Iran’s trade with the United States has increased despite deterioration of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
As per the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration’s data, the volume of Iran’s foreign trade with the United States has experienced a significant increase during a period from March 21 to April 20, 2018.
The growth comes while US President Donald Trump has provoked tensions with Iran since he took power and ultimately led to the withdrawal of US from the 2015 nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
Following the withdrawal from the JCPOA, US vowed to reinstate sanctions on Tehran and impose the highest level of economic bans on the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The interesting point about Iran-US relations is that despite deterioration of diplomatic ties between the two countries, the volume of foreign trade between Iran and Washington has saw a significant increase from March 21 to April 20 compared to the same period in last year.
According to the data, Iran exported 77 tons of commodities worth $1.311 million to the US, registering a 450% and 333% growth in volume and value respectively.
Iran’s imports from the US have also experienced a 215% and 150% growth in volume and value respectively.
According to the data, Iran imported 2514 tons of commodities worth $7.477 million from US, comparing to the last year that the statistics were 797 tons of commodities worth $3 million.
