TEHRAN (ecoideal)- Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a meeting with his Belarus counterpart Alexander Lukashenko in China underlined the need for the expansion of mutual cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting in the Chinese port city of Qingdao on the sidelines of SCO summit on Saturday, President Rouhani said that Tehran and Minsk should their utmost to deepen their relations.
"Tehran is ready to expand and strengthen economic and share trade ties, particularly in the fields of science and modern technology, with the friendly country of Belarus," the Iranian president said.
President Rouhani emphasized that Iran is the best route for connecting the Central Asian and Caucasus countries as well as Southeastern European states to the Persian Gulf.
The Belarus president, for his part, said his country is keen on promoting all-out relations with Iran as a key strategic partner.
"Iran is a key partner for us in the region and we are resolute to further enhance our ties with Tehran is all areas of politics and economy," President Lukashenko said.
Prior to meeting with President Lukashenko, President Rouhani held separate meetings with the presidents of Pakistan, Russia, and Afghanistan.
Rouhani is in China to take part at the 18th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit where he is scheduled to deliver a speech on the prospect of expansion of cooperation among the SCO member-states and the future of the JCPOA after the US pullout.
The Iranian president is accompanied by high-ranking delegation, including Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, Oil Minister Bijan Zangeneh, Economy Minister Masoud Karbasian, Vice President for Economic Affairs Mohammad Nahavandian, and Governor of Central Bank of Iran Valiollah Seif.
