ECONOMIC IDEAL – Tehran, Oct 9, IRNA – Indian Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan appreciated on Monday two national companies which “have placed orders to buy Iranian oil in November” despite the US sanctions.
In line with the US plan to bring Iran’s oil exports to zero, Washington has been trying to put pressure on the Asian and African states to decrease oil imports from Iran, and this is while some countries including India, Japan and Turkey still resist the pressure.
India does not yet know if it will be granted a waiver from the US sanction on Iran, Pradhan said as being reported by The Times of India.
India after China is the second major importer of Iran's oil, and New Delhi has close diplomatic relations with Tehran.
So, despite the US sanctions, India is continuing oil imports from Iran as it is planned to buy nine million barrels of oil from the country in November.
