ECONOMIC IDEAL – Tehran, Oct 24, IRNA — Iranian Minister of Energy announced that a meeting was held about 10 days ago at the level of Deputy Ministers of Energy of Iran, Russia and Azerbaijan to connect the power of three countries in Moscow.
Reza Ardakaniyan said on Wednesday that the talks had good results and details of the work at the next meeting, that will be held in Tehran in December, will be considered.
“'At the first step, we are looking to increase the possibility of exchanging energy with Azerbaijan to 600 megawatts, and we hope that the technical conditions for connecting the electricity network of the three countries will be made as soon as possible,” the minister said.
He added that if there were technical problems connecting to Russia and then Europe, there would be alternative ways.
Ardakaniyan put the capacity for export of electricity to neighboring countries at about 2,000 megawatts and said, “We are now exporting electricity to Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq, and with the formation of the new Iraqi government, we wish to have more detailed talks with Minister of Electricity of the country to have stronger relations.”
