ECONOMIC IDEAL – Islamabad, Nov 12, IRNA – President of Iran-Pakistan Federation of Culture and Trade, Khawaja Habib ur Rehman has advised the government of Pakistan to conduct trade with Iran in local currency.
Talking to local traders in Lahore, he said that trade between Iran and Pakistan has lot of potentials and both countries must expand their bilateral trade.
Habib urged the government to complete Iran-Pakistan (IP) gas pipeline project as early as possible to overcome Pakistan’s energy woes and to avoid closure of country’s industry.
Khawaja Habib ur Rehman said that sanctions would have no impact on Islamic Republic’s trade with other countries and cannot hamper its progress.
He said the exchange of trade delegations between Iran and Pakistan shows that bilateral trade is improving. He added that it is encouraging to see that bilateral trade volume has witnessed a growth of 20 percent over past year.
Habib viewed that freight trains between Zahedan and Quetta must be increased to enhance exports of Pakistan.
The trader called for early resumption of banking ties between Iran and Pakistan to enhance trade activity.
