ECONOMIC IDEAL – Belgrade, Nov 21, IRNA — Slovenian Minister of Economic Development and Technology Zdravko Pocivalsek criticized US withdrawal from nuclear deal, saying that his country is interested to promote economic cooperation with Iran.
In a meeting with Iran’s Ambassador in Ljubljana Kazem Shafei on Wednesday, he hailed bilateral ties as positive, saying, “We believe that Iran respects nuclear deal and we always encourage Slovenian companies to engage with Iran.”
Referring to an increase of 68 percent in the two countries’ trade exchanges last year, the minister said that the two countries’ economic exchanges experienced growth over the first half of current year.
“Iran was, has been and will be a major partner of Slovenia in the economic arena,” he said.
Iran’s ambassador, for his part, commented on the latest situation surrounding JCPOA and appreciated Slovenia for adopting a wise stance regarding Iran nuclear deal, especially following US unilateral exit from it.
Proposing solution to overcome challenges ahead, Shafei said that despite restrictions, there are numerous areas for cooperation.
Iran’s expectation to double trade exchanges in near future is realistic and can be fulfilled, he said
During the meeting, both sides discussed bilateral relations as well as ways for boosting economic ties in the new era following US withdrawal from the international accord.
