ECONOMIC IDEAL – Tehran, Dec 2, IRNA – The exports of processed aquatic products during the first six months of the current Iranian calendar year (beginning March 21) increased by 39 percents compared to the same period last year, says an official at Iran Fisheries Organization (IFO) on Sunday.
Each of Iran’s exported fisheries items has seen a rise of at least 18 percents, said the Director General of the Quality Improvement, Processing and Sea Food Market Development of IFO Issa Golshahi.
He added that out of the 1.2 million tons of total fisheries produced in the country, some 350,000 tons are processed products.
The increase in fish production has encouraged fisheries processing units to use more domestically produced fish, Golshahi stressed.
He added that Iran has some 400 fishery farming units where 128 of them process fisheries to make various products.
