ECONOMIC IDEAL – Baghdad, Jan 10, IRNA – Iran's Oil Minister Bijan Zangeneh and his Iraqi counterpart Thamir Ghadhban discussed the two countries' bilateral relations in energy sector.
The two ministers' meeting, also attended by Iran's Ambassador to Baghdad Iraj Masjedi, was held at Iraq's ministry of oil.
The Iraqi minister at the meeting emphasized the implementation of previously signed agreements on energy.
Baghdad, based on the new government plans, intends to boost its cooperation with foreign partners on oil, gas and electricity, said Ghadhban.
The Iranian minister, for his part, expressed hope that the meeting and other talks between the two sides will advance Iran-Iraq cooperation in every field.
Heading a delegation, Zangeneh arrived in Baghdad on Thursday morning.
He has met with Iraq's Prime Minister Adil Abd al-Mahdi, and is scheduled to meet with Iraqi Minister of Electricity Luay al-Khatteeb, and the country's President Barham Salih.
Iran is currently exporting electricity to Iraq. Moreover, the Iranian gas export to Iraq stands at 15 million cubic meters a day that will increase to some 40 million cubic meters a day when all export plans are implemented.
