ECONOMIC IDEAL – Ilam, Jan 11, IRNA – An official said that some 120 million tons of foodstuffs are produced in Iran annually, 36 tons of which go to waste in different ways.
Head of State Crisis Headquarters Esmaeil Najjar told a local meeting on water and soil that uncontrolled use of agricultural toxins not only causes environmental pollution but also lowers quality of agricultural products.
Noting that water resources should be managed properly, he added that some 1,200 billion rials were earmarked to solve water problem this year.
Ilam Province is an agricultural and animal husbandry hub for its suitable water resources and desirable weather conditions, he said, noting that conversion and supplementary industries should replace setting up factories.
