ECONOMIC IDEAL – Tehran, Feb 6, IRNA- The Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (COMCEC) has approved Iran's proposal, entitled ‘Seaborne Trade and Shipping within the Framework of the Trade Preferential System among the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (TPS- OIC).”
Deputy Chief of the Port and Economic Affairs Department of the Ports and Maritime Organization of Iran made the announcement on Wednesday.
The Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (COMCEC) is one of the specialized committees of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which was established in 1981 with the approval of the Head of Islamic States Summit and the membership of 57 countries.
Mohammad Ali Hassanzadeh said the Islamic Republic of Iran's proposal was approved by the COMCEC.
According to the official, in 2017, 13 projects were approved by OIC member countries and affiliated organizations, which more than 30 countries have benefited from the financing of the COMCEC projects.
He mentioned that the main goal of the projects is to maximize the institutional and human capacities of the Islamic member state of OIC and stated that the sixth call for project financing was held in September 2018, and the COMCEC secretariat announced that the proposed project of the Ports and Maritime Organization, as the representative of the transportation department of Iran and an active member of the Task Force on Transport and Communication Planning of COMCEC, was approved in January 2019.
