ECONOMIC IDEAL – Bojnord, Feb 20, IRNA- Iran says its northeastern Province of North Khorasan has the ability to carry out extraterritorial cultivation in Turkmenistan to be processed later inside the country.
“Our neighboring country has vast lands and water resources for agriculture and farmers and agricultural engineers from [the north-eastern] North Khorasan Province can work there,” said Iranian Ambassador to Turkmenistan, Mohammad Ahmadi on Wednesday.
“We can cultivate produce such as sugar beet and then process it in Shirvan,” he added, referring to the Iranian city, some 40 kilometers from the Turkmen border.
The Iranian envoy also said Tehran is ready to carry out some road projects in Turkmenistan in a bid to boost border markets.
North Khorasan Province shares a 300-kilometer frontier with Iran’s north-eastern neighbor.
The Iranian envoy also said he is in talks with Turkmen officials to issue six-month visas for Iranians.
Only five percent of the 85-million-dollar exports from North Khorasan Province have been destined for the Turkmen nation, Ahmadi said.
