The Afghan Chamber of Commerce's Deputy Chief Khan Jan Alkouzi at a ceremony to send the first commercial shipment from Chabahar route to India on behalf of Afghan businessmen said Sunday that Chabahar is closer to Afghanistan 800 kilometers than other transit routes and this attracts businessmen.
He said the merchants would easily connect through this route to other parts of the world and urged Iran and India to fulfill their obligations in Chabahar.
Alkouzai added, “According to the obligations of the three countries, the Port of Chabahar will be expanded which vessels with high tonnage in anchor in the port and Chabahar has been developed day by day and other problems will be removed.
He said that Afghanistan imports between 800 and 900 million dollars annually from India, which previously imported from Bandar Abbas to Afghanistan, which imposed a surplus cost on traders between $ 800 and $ 500 compared to Chabahar, after which they demand that these imports to be done from Chabahar.
