ECONOMIC IDEAL – Tehran (ISNA) – Maku Free Zone Organization’s deputy for infrastructure and construction announced that a feasibility study deal for Aras -Maku railway has been signed.
“The 200 kilometer railway has an important role in development of rail transport in Iran and leads to the increase of Maku’s capacity for economic development. It is considered as n infrastructure in Maku’s development process,” he said.
According to the official, the plan will take place in 18 months with 6.6 billion rial.
Mentioning that the study plan is aimed at constructing two railways, he added, “In the first phase, a railway with 6-10 ton capacity will be constructed, which links Maku free zone to European railway”.
Maku Free Zone Organization’s deputy for infrastructure and construction also said, “Turkey will extend its railway to Cheshmeh Soraya and by the end of constructing the 147 kilometer railway, Iran’s railway will join European railway”.
According to the official, as soon as the feasibility study completes, the construction process will take place to link Iran to Europe, directly from Turkey.
