ECONOMIC IDEAL – Ankara, March 2, IRNA- A conference on the strengthening of Iran-Turkey cooperation and economic and trade relations was convened in the city of Erzurum with Iran consul general and members of the Chamber of Commerce, and some Iranian and Turk officials as participants.
The conference was held in the presence of Iranian Consul General Sajjad Soltanzadeh in Erzurum and other Iranian and Turkish officials at the Cultural Center of Nane Hathon affiliated to Atatürk University in Friday afternoon, according to IRNA, quoting the SON DAKIKA news site on Saturday.
Soltanzadeh, Consul General of Iran in Erzurum, emphasized on the necessity of expanding bilateral relations, especially between the border provinces of the two countries, and said the two countries should introduce their capacities while investors from different parts of Iran and Turkey should meet and negotiate with each other. I have always emphasized on the increase in trade relations between the two countries in my meeting with Turkish political and economic officials.
The official pointed to the importance of trade, saying entrepreneurs should be encouraged to cooperate in modern times. “We must abandon traditional commerce and create a modern business landscape. It is necessary to establish good relations between the two countries in all fields.”
The head of the Erzurum Chamber of Commerce, Hakan Oral, also said, ‘We do not accept the sanctions against Iran. Obviously, these sanctions have targeted Iran's energy and finance sectors in particular.”
Referring to the historical relationship between the two countries, Oral added, ‘Negative developments against Iran, affect both the region and us. We have always had historic and long-term economic and trade relations with Iran, and these relations should be expanded exponentially.
