ECONOMIC IDEAL – Tehran, March 11, IRNA – A member of the Executive Board of Iran's Chamber of Cooperatives emphasized that the Iranian people will accompany the Syrian people in the reconstruction of Syria, which is a very difficult and time-consuming task.
In meeting with Syrian business delegation in Tehran on Monday, Mashallah Azimi underlined, ‘The Iranian and Syrian people have always been along each other in problems and joys, and now it's time to coordinate economic activities between the two countries.”
He went on to say, ‘We believe that the synergy between the two peoples of Iran and Syria can strengthen the axis of resistance.’
He emphasized the necessity of increasing Iran's presence in the reconstruction of Syria and said, ‘Reconstruction of Syria with regard to the occurrence of war in this country is a priority, and Iran with the participation of active cooperatives, especially in the field of knowledge-based economy can play a significant role in the reconstruction of the country's infrastructure.
Referring to Iran's capabilities in syria and construction, Azimi added that the construction industry accounts for 20 percent of Iran's gross domestic product and 15 percent in productive employment.
The economic activist pointed out that the construction industry has 250 fields of activity, which indicates the importance of this industry in the Iranian economy.
According to him, Iran is the source of good quality and cheap construction materials and minerals and that could be used for Syria's economic recovery and solving its economic problems.
Azimi, referring to the efforts of some countries to engage in the rebuilding of Syria, said, ‘Undoubtedly, the countries that have not helped Syria during the war and are now trying to make a contribution to the reconstruction of this country during the plight of the Syrians will abandon them but the Iranian nation as people of affection will always be with the Syrian people.
Deputy head of Iran’s Chamber of Cooperatives Mohammad Ali Zeyqami said that the elimination of the enemies of Syria was carried out with the help of the Syrian people and the Iran’s cooperation and now the time is ripe for reconstruction, with pace and the least time.
In a meeting between the Syrian business delegation and the members of the Iran’s Chamber of Cooperatives, he said, “The expansion of economic relations between the two countries can be done using the capacity of associations and companies, and governments are also required to provide the necessary facilities.”
According to IRNA, in 2010, the volume of Iran's export to Syria was $516 million, which was gradually reduced as a result of the unrest and conflicts in the country due to the activity of the Takfiri terrorist group of ISIS, as Iran's export to Syria fell to $172 million.
According to the statistics of the Organization for Trade Promotion of Iran, Iran exported $63.9 million worth of exports to Syria over the first 9 months of the current Iranian year (will end on March 21) and imports 3.1 million dollars.
In other development, Syrian Chargé d'affaires in Iran Ali Seyyed Ahmad said Monday the proposal of tariff reduction to zero for commodity exchanges between Iran and Syria are under examination in the joint economic commissions of the two countries, and Iran and Russia are prioritizing Syria’s reconstruction.
He strongly denied the reconstruction of this country with the participation of the countries that fought against Syria.
