ECONOMIC IDEAL – Baku, March 14, IRNA – Iran's minister of finance and economic affairs said here on Thursday that Tehran and Baku should strengthen bilateral relations beyond the infrastructural projects.
Farhad Dejpasand made the remarks speaking to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) upon arrival in the Azeri capital.
Dejpasand said Iran and Azerbaijan enjoy considerable cultural commonalities that can be used for further bilateral cooperation.
The two countries can also foster relations in the areas of tourism, finance, banking and electricity, the minister said.
He added that the two sides have fortunately good historical relations and have stressed strengthening of cooperation with neighbors.
Dejpasand is in Azerbaijan to attend the 13th Tehran-Baku joint economic commission meeting slated for March 14.
In Baku, the Iranian finance minister is also scheduled to meet with top Azeri officials, including President Ilham Aliyev.
