ECONOMIC IDEAL – Tehran, May 12, IRNA – Oil production in the southwestern flood-hit region of Khuzestan is back on track, weeks after some wells were inundated, putting on hold crude production from this area.
“Oil production in the southern oilfields in underway as most of the closed wells are now back on line,” Ahmad Mohammadi, CEO of National Iranian South Oil Fields Company, told IRNA on Sunday.
He stressed that some wells in the Western Karoun oil region are not yet able to get back online as soon as they are still inundated.
The official said some wells have been closed due to environmental concerns.
Some 30 oilfields in Khuzestan were inundated during huge floods that caused a halt in the region’s production.
