–Indian shipping minister in Tehran to discuss ties
India’s Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal arrived in Tehran of Friday to discuss the expansion of cooperation with Iranian officials. According to the Ports and Maritime Organization of Iran, the Indian minister is heading a high-ranking delegation, IRNA reported.
Sunil Mukundan, the managing director of India Ports Global Ltd., is also accompanying the Indian minister. The Indian delegation is scheduled to visit port terminals and equipment in Chabahar port city, hold talks with Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development Rostam Qassemi, and sign a document on transportation, ports and maritime.
— Iran, Pakistan close to inking free trade agreement
Iran and Pakistan are expected to sign a free trade agreement (FTA) within the next six months, said a senior Pakistani government official, amid efforts by the two neighbors to boost their bilateral trade.
Pakistan’s Minister for Commerce Naveed Qamar said on Thursday that Pakistan and Iran will in the next few months give a final shape to an FTA that aims to promote the value of bilateral trade between the two neighbors to up to $4 billion per year.

— Iran Warns West Against Excessive Demands
Iranian parliament speaker Muhammad Baqer Qalibaf on Friday urged the Western countries to stick to their commitments under the 2015 nuclear agreement, warning them of any attempt to violate the deal through “bullying policies”.
“Iran will not let any excessive demands regarding the JCPOA revival. It advises the Western side to refrain from violating the deal through bullying,” Qalibaf wrote in a Twitter post in Persian.
“We have proven that if they comply with the agreement, we will also do the same,” added the speaker.

The Iranian freestyle wrestling team has won the U-20 World Championships. Iran finished first with 159 points, 17 ahead of the U.S., and India finished third with 112 points.
The Iranian wrestlers won three gold medals, one silver, and four bronzes in Sofia, Bulgaria. Asian champion Amir Hossein Firouzpour won the gold medal at 92kg, defeating Georgian wrestler Andro Margishvili 11-0 in the final match.

Iran’s exports to Oman increased by 123 percent in the four months from March 21 to July 22, Iran’s commerce attaché in Muscat said. Mehrdad Fallah Orimi said that Iran has exported 415 million dollars of goods to Oman in this period, showing a 123 percent growth compared to the same period last year. This makes Oman the seventh destination for Iran’s exports on the global scale and fifth among Iran’s neighboring countries, according to Fallah Orimi.
He said that Iraq, the UAE, Turkey, and Afghanistan go before Oman in the list of Iran’s export destinations. Iran-Oman total trade rose to 647 million, showing an 86 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

–‘There are a lot of potentials to boost trade between Iran, Malaysia’
Malaysia’s Charge D’affaires ad intrim in Tehran Mohd Nizam Halimi said that there are a lot of potentials to improve and increase trade between Iran and Malaysia. Making the remarks in an interview conducted by the Tehran Times on the sidelines of a ceremony to celebrate ASEAN Day 2022 in Tehran on Tuesday, he said: “At the moment trade relations between Malaysia and Iran is very good; last year the total amount of trade was about six hundred million US dollars.”
“Most of the products coming from Malaysia are palm oil and also our rubber products are exported to Iran”, he stated. “There are a lot of routes to improve and increase this trade, especially we can, I mean there is a lot of areas that we can potentially cooperate in the field of tourism, scientific research, and also cultural activities.”
— Tehran museum apologizes for insect problem at minimalism, conceptual art exhibit
Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art has apologized to the public for the insects that were found on a photo by Bernd and Hilla Becher on view at the museum.Insects seen on a rare photo by the German conceptual photographers sparked a social media frenzy last week.
A video, which went viral last Sunday, shows two silverfish trapped underneath the glass of a frame for the photo. In a statement published on Wednesday, the museum also praised the Iranian art community for their sensitivity to the artworks being preserved at the center.
— Muharram rituals in Kashan attended by 130 foreign travelers
—More than 130 foreign travelers attended mourning ceremonies in the tourist city of Kashan, Isfahan province’s tourism chief said on Thursday. “Over 130 foreign nationals traveled to Kashan to visit Muharram rituals during the first 20 days of the [lunar] month,” Alireza Izadi was quoted by the CHTN as saying.
In addition, countless domestic travelers visited Kashan during the mentioned period to attend various mourning rituals held in the ancient city, the official said. “We intend to help promote religious tourism in Kashan more than in the past,” he said.
