– India committed to Chabahar port development: Minister
India’s Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal said his government is committed to equipping and developing Chabahar port and will make its utmost effort for turning the port into a regional and international transit hub.
Sonowal made the remarks in Chabahar on the sidelines of a meeting with Head of Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) Ali-Akbar Safaei in which the two sides discussed the development of maritime and port cooperation between the two countries, IRNA reported.
Stressing the rich cultural and historical relations between Iran and India, the minister noted that such relations will pave the way for the development of bilateral economic cooperation between the two countries.
– Capacity of Iranian thermal power plants tops 72,000MW
The nominal capacity of Iran’s thermal power plants reached 72,027 megawatts (MW), registering an increase of over 3,000MW over the past 12 months.
The government has managed to increase the capacity of the country’s thermal power plants including steam, gas, and combined-cycle power plants from 69,000MW to over 72,000MW since it took office in August 2021, IRNA reported.
Combined-cycle power plants account for the biggest share of the country’s power generation capacity with a total capacity of 34,219MW, followed by gas power plants with a capacity of 21,979MW and steam power plants with a capacity equal to 15,829MW.

– Bulgarian Event Screens Iran’s Social Drama
The Love Is Folly International Film Festival in Bulgaria has been set to screen Iranian ‘The Inheritance’. Iranian media reports said ‘The Inheritance’ (Mordehkhor) by Sadeq Sadeq-Daqiqi will take part in the 30th edition of the festival.
The film addresses the issue of guardianship. It is about a teenager whose uncles became his guardians after the death of his father. ‘The Inheritance’, a social drama, features Sam Derakhshani, Ladan Mostofi, Ahmad Mehranfar and Linda Kiani. Earlier reports said ‘Sea Boys’ by Afshin Hashemi will also be screened at the Bulgarian event.
– World Powers Covet Iran’s Defense Achievements
Iran has reached such a high level of expertise in the defense industry that major world powers are willing to acquire its achievements, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Muhammad Hussein Baqeri said.
In a message congratulating the defense minister on the National Defense Industry Day, Major General Baqeri said the local defense industry has made remarkable progress under the pressure of sanctions and threats from regional and extra-regional enemies.
The top general said Iran’s numerous achievements and products, including modern, smart and effectual military systems used by the ground, naval, aerial, aerospace, missile, drone and cyber defense units, have elevated the components of the country’s power and strengthened its deterrent power.

Iran’s Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali on Sunday said that big Iranian automakers and over 50 car parts manufacturers will attend MIMS Automobility Moscow 2022 to export automobiles and car parts.
Jalali said that participation of this number of Iranian companies in an international exhibition is unprecedented.
The MIMS Automobility Moscow 2022 will be held on August 22-25 in Moscow Expo Center and 600 companies from 18 countries will attend the expo.

– Iran lose to Lebanon at 2022 FIBA U18 Asian Championship
Iran lost to Lebanon 65-63 here in Group A of the 2022 FIBA U18 Asian Championship on Sunday.
Iran will play Japan on Tuesday.
The 2022 FIBA U18 Asian Championship is an international under-18 basketball competition that takes place held in Tehran, Iran from Aug. 21 to 28.The top four teams will represent FIBA Asia in the 2023 FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup in Hungary.
This is the third time that Iran has hosted the tournament after hosting the 2008 and 2016 editions.
