TEHRAN (ecoideal)- Iranian Deputy Road and Urban Development Minister Asqar Fakhriyeh Kashan announced that the country has finalized financing Airbus and Boeing aircraft deals, describing reports on sale of airplanes reserved by Iran to other customers as rumor.
“The purchased planes will be delivered to Iran next year,” Fakhriyeh Kashan said.
Media reports had claimed that since government has not been able to reach agreement with international financers concerning finance, Airbus has sold Iran’s planes to other customers.
The media also claimed that Malaysia’s AirAsia Airline, Air India, Brazilian airline and Saudi Airlines were among potential buyers of Iran’s Airbus 320 aircraft.
Although sanctions against Iran aviation industry date back to pre-sanctions era, Iran could add some sections to nuclear deal known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) regarding aviation field.
Iran has signed contracts to buy 100 Airbuses, 80 Boeing aircraft, and 20 ATR passenger planes. The planes will replace the oldest planes for domestic flights.
Chief Executive of the European turboprop maker ATR Christian Scherer said on Tuesday its new airplane orders could outpace deliveries by 50 percent in 2017, adding that the company will deliver 8 other aircraft to Iran by the yearend.
ATR aims to deliver another eight aircraft to Iran by the end of the year after delivering six so far this year under US export licenses issued following the lifting of sanctions in 2016, Scherer said.
Iran has so far received three Airbus passenger planes and six ATR72 aircraft.
