TEHRAN (ECOIDEAL)- Swiss Ambassador to Iran Markus Leitner underlined that his country is interested in expanding mutual cooperation in different fields with Tehran.
"We are interested to boosting economic relations with Iran, specially in the field of economy, tourism, medicine and knowledge-based economy," Leitner said in a meeting with Head of the Iranian Parliament's Economy Commission Mohammad Reza Pourebrahimi in Tehran on Monday.
Leitner reiterated that efficient laws will help bolster bilateral ties.
The Swiss envoy called for increasing the exchange of parliamentary delegations between the two countries.
The Iranian lawmaker, for his part, referred to good history of relations between Iran and Switzerland, and said, "Bolstering parliamentary cooperation between the two countries will help accelerate activities of the two countries’ private sectors."
Pourebrahimi praised Swiss parliament and nation’s constructive approach regarding 2015 nuclear deal, officially known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
In a relevant development in early November, senior Iranian and Swiss officials in a meeting in Switzerland discussed bilateral ties and mutual cooperation, specially in business and economic fields.
During the meeting in Bern, Iranian Deputy Economy Minister Mohammad Khazayee and Economy Minister of Switzerland's Vaud State Philippe Leuba explored avenues for bolstering and reinvigorating economic and trade relations.
Khazayee, also Head of Organization for Economic Investment and Technical Assistance of Iran, announced an opportunity in resuming banking transactions between Iran and Switzerland.
Iran's deputy economy minister, meantime, expressed optimism that some of the collaboration will be operationalized within next month, and said, "There’s a seemly atmosphere for developing banking relations between Iran and Switzerland. In addition, the pathways to Iran-Switzerland banking cooperation are opening."
During the meeting, the two sides discussed expansion of cooperation, particularly in areas of biotechnology, IT, health-related technologies, agriculture technologies and transportation.
