TEHRAN (ECOIDEAL)- Filipino Ambassador in Iran Eduardo Martin Menez called for broadening of mutual cooperation between Manila and Tehran.
"A memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the two countries on agricultural products trade is outdated and needs to be reviewed and renewed," Martin Menez said in a meeting between his country’s economic and agricultural delegation and Head of Khorasan Razavi Agriculture Jihad Organization Mojtaba Mazrouei in Mashhad on Monday.
He said export of banana makes 70 percent of The Philippines' agro trade with Iran.
“We are ready to export other crops such as pineapple, mango and coconut to Iran and import fruits such as apple in return,” he said.
Mazrouei, for his part, said that Khorasan Razavi province produces some 7.2 million tons of products each year.
Pistachio, saffron, raisin and pomegranate are among the main agricultural products of Khorasan Razavi province, a large section of which are exported to European states.
