TEHRAN (ECOIDEAL)- Iran and Lithuania have agreed to broaden their mutual cooperation in the aviation sector by launching direct flights between their major cities, Lithuania's Accredited Ambassador of Lithuania to Tehran announced.
"We have negotiated on the issue and the direct flights will take place in the near future," he added.
The Lithuanian ambassador also said that the two countries have many capacities to expand their bilateral fields in different fields.
"There are a lot of little-known or unknown capabilities between the two countries, but we hope by opening the Lithuanian embassy in Iran and the Iranian embassy in Lithuania can use the existing capabilities," he added.
In relevant remarks in May 2016, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Lithuanian counterpart Linas Linkevicius in a meeting in Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to broaden political consultations between the two countries.
Zarif and Linkevicius signed the MoU after holding talks on bilateral ties in different fields and regional developments.
During the meeting in the Iranian capital today, Zarif and Linkevicius explored avenues for bolstering and reinvigorating bilateral ties in political and economic fields.
The Iranian and Lithuanian foreign ministers also discussed regional and international developments.
