TEHRAN (ecoideal)- Iranian President's Chief of Staff Mahmoud Vaezi and Azeri President Ilham Aliyev in a meeting in Baku underlined the need for the two countries to replace dollar with their national currencies to conduct their trade exchanges.
During the meeting in the Azeri capital on Thursday, Vaezi and President Aliyev explored avenues for bolstering and reinvigorating mutual cooperation, specially in the trade, economic and banking fields.
During the meeting, the Iranian President's Chief of Staff said that the two countries should try to do their trade exchanges with national currencies.
The Azeri president, for his part, said that he has issued his orders in this concern accordingly.
He said that Azerbaijan Republic intends to develop relations and cooperation with Iran in all fields.
President Aliyev pointed to the necessity to accelerate joint venture projects like car manufacturing and pharmaceuticals by Iran in Azerbaijan as well as Astara-Astara Railway and cooperation on North-South Corridor.
He appreciated Iran's role in the ongoing fight against terrorism in the region, and underlined the necessity to develop intelligence, security and defensive cooperation between Tehran and Baku.
Mahmoud Vaezi arrived in Baku on Wednesday evening to attend an International Conference dubbed 'Islamic Solidarity-2017, Dialogue among Religions and Cultures'.
